Costello Met With Michael Cohen at Regency Hotel, Judge Warns Him of Conduct

Witness Testifies in Trump Hush-Money Case

NEW YORK (AP) — A defense witness in Donald Trump's hush-money case testified Tuesday that he met with Michael Cohen at the Regency Hotel on April 17, 2018. Robert Costello, a former legal adviser to Trump, told the court that he met with Cohen to discuss a possible settlement with Stormy Daniels, an adult film star who alleged an affair with Trump.

Costello's testimony came after prosecutors rested their case against Trump on Monday. The defense then commenced its case and called Costello as one of its first witnesses.

During cross-examination, prosecutors questioned Costello about his relationship with Cohen and whether he had ever discussed the Daniels case with Trump. Costello denied discussing the case with Trump.

Judge Merchan warned Costello of his conduct during the trial, telling him not to roll his eyes, stare him down, talk over objections, or sigh.
