Asia And Europe Markets Mixed; Oil Stays Below $70, Dollar Retreats
US Recap:
US stocks ended lower on Tuesday, dragged down by technology shares, while the dollar retreated and oil prices remained below $70 a barrel.
The S&P 500 fell 0.6% to 4,668.69, led by a 1.5% drop in the technology sector. The Nasdaq Composite lost 1.2% to 15,762.15, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.1% to 36,231.22.
Asia Recap:
Asian markets were mixed on Wednesday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 index rising 0.7% to 28,914.27 and the Shanghai Composite Index gaining 0.3% to 3,625.89.
However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.6% to 25,046.17, and the Kospi Composite Index in South Korea lost 0.4% to 2,988.33.
Europe Recap:
European markets were also mixed on Wednesday, with the FTSE 100 index in London rising 0.1% to 7,321.15 and the CAC 40 index in Paris gaining 0.2% to 6,933.87.
However, the DAX index in Frankfurt fell 0.1% to 15,647.41, and the STOXX 600 index, which tracks 600 large companies across Europe, was flat at 463.96.
Oil And Currency Markets:
Oil prices remained below $70 a barrel on Wednesday, with Brent crude futures trading at $69.44 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate futures at $67.89 a barrel.
The US dollar retreated against a basket of currencies on Wednesday, with the US Dollar Index falling 0.1% to 93.88.
